GSM VoIP Gateway User Guide

Below is a user guide for a GSM VoIP gateway, providing instructions on how to set up and use the device effectively.

 

Introduction:

The GSM VoIP gateway is a device that enables the integration of GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technologies, allowing you to make and receive calls over the internet using your existing GSM network. This user guide will walk you through the process of setting up and using the GSM VoIP gateway.

 

Hardware Installation:

a. Unbox the GSM VoIP gateway and ensure that all the components are present.

b. Connect the power adapter to the gateway and plug it into a power outlet.

c. Connect the Ethernet cable to the LAN port of the gateway and connect the other end to your router or network switch.

d. Insert the SIM card(s) into the corresponding SIM card slots of the gateway.

e. Connect an analog telephone or PBX system to the FXS (Foreign Exchange Station) port of the gateway using an RJ11 telephone cable.

Network Configuration:

a. On a computer connected to the same network as the gateway, open a web browser.

b. Enter the IP address of the gateway in the address bar to access the device's web-based management interface.

c. Log in using the default username and password provided in the user manual or on the device itself.

d. Navigate to the network settings section and configure the network parameters, such as IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS servers, based on your network configuration.

e. Save the settings and reboot the gateway for the changes to take effect.

 

VoIP Configuration:

a. Access the web-based management interface of the gateway using the IP address as described in step 3.

b. Navigate to the VoIP settings section and enter the required information provided by your VoIP service provider, such as SIP server address, username, password, and authentication details.

c. Configure other VoIP settings, including codecs, call routing rules, and call features, based on your specific requirements.

d. Save the settings and reboot the gateway for the changes to be applied.

 

GSM Configuration:

a. Access the web-based management interface of the gateway using the IP address as described in step 3.

b. Navigate to the GSM settings section and configure the GSM parameters, such as the SIM card settings, signal strength threshold, and network selection.

c. Set up SMS settings if required, including message center number and SMS routing rules.

d. Save the settings and reboot the gateway for the changes to take effect.

 

Making and Receiving Calls:

a. Connect your telephone or PBX system to the FXS port of the gateway.

b. Pick up the handset or activate the PBX system and dial the desired phone number using the correct dialing format.

c. The gateway will route the call through the configured VoIP or GSM network.

d. For incoming calls, the gateway will ring the connected telephone or PBX system, allowing you to answer the call.

 

Additional Features and Settings:

The GSM VoIP gateway may offer additional features and settings, such as call forwarding, call waiting, call transfer, and voice quality adjustments. Consult the user manual or manufacturer's documentation to explore and configure these features based on your requirements.

If you encounter any issues with the GSM VoIP gateway, refer to the troubleshooting section in the user manual or contact the manufacturer's technical support for assistance. Common troubleshooting steps may include checking network connectivity, verifying configuration settings, and updating firmware if available.
